    Constructed as a KC-10A by McDonnell Douglas.
    Aircraft roll out

    22 April 1985

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 84-0191.

    April 1985

    Transferred to 6th Aerial Refueling Squadron/60th Air Mobiliy Wing, Travis AFB, CA.
    Operated with markings: 60th AMW, 349th AMW
    Associated with 349th AMW.

    April 1986

    During Operation El Dorado Canyon, serving as the mother ship for USAF F-111s whose target was the command center for a Libyan terrorist network in Tripoli. For the first time since WWII, US aircraft took off from Royal Air Force bases in the United Kingdom for a bombing mission. The KC-10s large fuel capacity allowed the strike force aircraft to refuel eight times during the mission. The raid proved the USs capabilities for long-range precision strikes.
