    To collect atmospheric sample for the purpose of detecting and identifying nuclear explosions. Informally referred to as sniffer or weather bird.

    Transferred to 45th RS, 55th Operations Group, Offutt AFB, NE.
    Operated with markings: OF, Lucifers Chariot
    The nickname Lucifers Chariot stemmed from this aircrafts reputation of breaking down.
