    Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the SOHIO class. The primary pilot was Howard S Gidovlenko. Qualified in 4th place with an average speed of 325.332 mph. Raced in the B Feature race. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 317.952 mph.

    Notes: Howard Gidovlenko flew this modified P-38 at Cleveland in 1949. He dropped out on the 3rd lap of the Tinnerman Trophy Race. Howard would participate in air racing in the 1960s by building racing engines for people like E.D. Weiner through his company Avia Union. Emil Strasser photo.

    Competed at the National Air Races Cleveland in the Tinnerman Trophy race. The primary pilot was Howard S Gedovlenko. Qualified in 8th place with an average speed of 353.134 mph. Started the B Feature race, but did not finish. Left the race on Lap 3 with a broken oil line.
