    Constructed as a CH-47A.

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army with s/n 62-2127.

    31 December 1963

    To 228th Assault Support Helicopter Battalion, 1st CAV. (Air Mobile).

    July 1965

    Base of operations changed.
    Deployed to South Vietnam for combat / combat support operations. Shipped aboard the USS Boxer (CV-21).

    14 January 1966

    Damaged.
    During a Rescue and Recovery mission for a downed aircraft, CH-47A 62-2127 was at 500 feet and UNK knots when it took 2 hits from an enemy 7.62MM weapon, likely an AK-47. The helicopter was hit in the forward area, damaging the structure and main rotor system. The helicopter continued flight and accomplished all mission objectives. It was later repaired in theater.

    Transferred to 611th Transportation Company, South Vietnam.

    November 1966

    To Army Aeronautical Depot Maintenance Center (ARADMAC), NAS Corpus Christi, TX.

    February 1968

    Transferred to 177th Aviation Company, Medical Helicopter, 3rd Army, Fort Benning, GA.

    By December 1970

    Transferred to Lawson Army Airfield, Fort Benning, GA.

    By December 1970

    Redesignated as GCH-47A.

    Transferred to 205th Aviation Company, 3rd Army, Fort Benning, GA.

    June 1971

    Transferred to U. S. Army National Guard.

    September 1973

    Transferred to U. S. Army Transportation Corps and Transportation School (USATSCH), 1st Army, Fort Eustis, VA.

    15 April 1988

    Transferred to the Military Aircraft Storage and Disposal Center (MASDC) with inventory number XM0028.

    27 March 1992

    To Boeing Vertol, Philadelphia, PA.

    From May 1992 to June 1993

    Remanufactured as a CH-47D.
    New construction number, M.3434, assigned to the airframe.

    30 June 1993

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army with s/n 92-00293.

    From July 1993 to After 1 June 1995

    Transferred to Company F, 131st Aviation Regiment, AL ARNG, Montgomery, AL.

    After 11 September 2001

    Deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan for various deployments following the events of 9/11/2001, making this Chinook a veteran of both the Vietnam War and GWOT.

    From By July 2005 to September 2008

    Transferred to 2nd Battalion, 104th Aviation Regiment, CT ARNG, Windsor Locks, CT.

    After September 2008

    Transferred to High Altitude Aviation ARNG Training Site (HAATS) Gypsum, CO.

    From June 2012 to June 2013

    USDA Forest Service, Rocky Mountain Region, approved the Colorado Army National Guard aircraft for use on Emergency Life Saving missions and/or Wildland Fire Fighting activities as specified in the Colorado Interagency Cooperative Fire Management Agreement for the period.

    By 2016

    To 834th Aviation Support Battalion, 34th Expeditionary Combat Aviation Brigade, MN ARNG, Saint Paul, MN.

    September 2016

    Permanently withdrawn from use.
    This Chinook accumulated more than 4,000 flight hours during its 53 year military career.

    September 2016

    To Saint Cloud Army Aviation Support Facility-Minnesota National Guard, Saint. Cloud Regional Airport, Saint Cloud, MN.
