Raced in the First Trophy race. Finished in 6th place with an average speed of 287.06 mph. Raced in the Heat 2A race. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 331.64 mph. Raced in the Make-Up race. Finished in 6th place with an average speed of 287.06 mph. Raced in the Reserve race. Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 331.64 mph.

    Crashed.
    There were two serious injuries. The accident occurred at Mar Vista, CA, United States while taking off. The damage was substantial. The engines number 5 intake valve seat backed out of the head immediately after takeoff, resulting in the loss of power of 3 cylinders. The pilot entered a turn to return to the runway. The aircraft stalled and collided with a residence. The aircraft flight manual recommended a straight ahead flight path in the event of a power loss...
