    The race was from Milwaukee, WI, to Reno. Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Harolds Club Transcontinental race. The primary pilot was Mark Foutch. Started the One Mile Course race, but did not finish. Dropped out at Laramie, Wyoming, with engine problems.

Finished in 2nd place with an average speed of 377.870 mph. Raced in the Championship race. Finished in 6th place with an average speed of 367.561 mph.

    The accident occurred at the Fort Wayne Municipal Airport (FWA) Fort Wayne, IN, United States while taking off. The damage was substantial. The pilot reported that the airplane prematurely lifted off in the crosswind during takeoff on runway 32. The takeoff was aborted and the left wing dropped struck the ground. The airplane traveled off the left side of the runway and came to rest. The pilot reported having 839 hours total time with 114 in this make and model of airplane...

    There was one minor injury. The accident occurred at Round Lake, IL, United States while cruising. The damage was substantial. The pilot reported he was climbing through 2500 feet when the engine stopped abruptly. He was using fuel from the left tank and immediately switched the fuel selector to the right tank position. He placed the mixture in the emergency rich position and checked the boost pump and magneto switches on...
