    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 43-5280.
    Shipped to Australia.

    7 March 1944

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the Royal Australian Air Force with s/n A71-13.

    Transferred to No. 3 Aircraft Depot, Amberley, Queensland.

    17 January 1946

    Withdrawn from use.
    Received at 7AD Tocumwal ex 4CU for storage under cover.

    18 November 1948

    To Gibbes Sepik Airways, Wewak, Papua New Guinea with new c/r VH-BNE.

    Notes: Refuelling at a Queensland airfield on the ferry flight from Sydney to New Guinea in November 1948. Bobby Gibbes is carrying supplies, possibly for the 10 lambs he had on board the Norseman

    13 November 1953

    Involved in an incident.
    Overturned on landing Telefomin when a wheel struck a soft spot on the strip. Captain Robin Gray and another Gibbes Sepik Airways pilot Roy Shaw were unhurt, but the passenger who was seated on bags of rice suffered a broken leg.

    29 June 1957

    Involved in an incident.
    Overturned during forced landing in swamp at Lake Kopiago while air-dropping supplies to patrol officer patrol.Pilot Helly Tschuchnigg and 3 drop crew received minor injuries. They were rescued from an area of constant native tribal fighting by Qantas floatplane Beaver VH-EAU which landed on the tiny lake.

    Notes: After the crash at Lake Kopiagu, New Guinea in July 1957. The aircraft was dismantled and carried out in pieces by a team of 120 native carriers and returned to service.

    To Mandated Airlines Ltd, Lae, Papua New Guinea with new c/r VH-GSD.

    18 March 1960

    Involved in an incident.
    Overturned during forced landing Ialibu airstrip.Accident report: The pilot noticed a drop in fuel pressure when committed to continue a takeoff and used the wobble pump to obtain a height of 200 feet. He attempted to return to the strip but engine power failed completely and the aircraft overturned on rough terrainThe pilot John Sutcliffe sustained minor injuries.

    12 September 1960

    Civil registration, VH-GSD, cancelled.
