    Constructed as a C-141A-LM by Lockheed at Marietta, GA, USA.

    Circa 1966

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Air Force with s/n 66-7944.

    By 1968

    To 62nd Military Airlift Wing, Military Airlift Command, McChord AFB, WA.

    From February 1973 to April 1973

    Participated in Operation Homecoming. 66-7944 was the last aircraft to depart from Hanoi.

    Converted to a C-141B.

    By February 2003

    Transferred to 6th AS, 305th AMW, McGuire Air Force Base, NJ.

    February 2003

    C-141B #66-7944 was the aircraft responsible for bringing the bodies of the Space Shuttle Columbia crew to Dover AFB, DE, in the days following the disaster.

    14 September 2004

    Transferred to the 309th Aerospace Maintenance and Regeneration Center (AMARC) with inventory number CR0216.

    After 29 April 2009

    Scrapped.
