    Destroyed in a crash.
    Crashed in Mark Twain National Forest in rural south-central Missouri. Pilot ejected with injuries. Cause was structural failure, with fuselage breaking apart just behind cockpit. All USAF, JASDF, and IDF/AF F-15s were subsequently grounded for about two weeks while crash investigation was going on. Crash report states that upper right fuselage longeron had manufacturing defects and failed under stress of 7G turn, resulting in failure of another longeron and separation of cockpit area from fuselage. The Air Force cleared all its grounded F-15A-D fighters for flight on 15 February 2008 pending inspections, reviews and any needed repairs. In March 2008, the injured pilot filed a lawsuit against Boeing, the F-15ss manufacturer.
