    Competed at the National Championship Air Races in the Unlimited class. The primary pilot was Gary Levitz from Dallas, TX. Qualified in 10th place with an average speed of 392.375 mph. Raced in Heat 1A. Finished in 6th place with an average speed of 313.694 mph. Raced in Heat 2D. Finished in 1st place with an average speed of 402.597 mph. Raced in Heat 3C. Finished in 4th place with an average speed of 402.017 mph. Raced in the Championship race. Finished in 4th place with an average speed of 414.325 mph.

    Crashed.
    There was one fatality. The accident occurred at the Reno/stead Airport (4SD) Reno, NV, United States while maneuvering. The airframe was destroyed. The empennage assembly of the experimental race plane separated and the aircraft crashed during the first lap of an unlimited class heat race at the Reno National Championship Air Races. The wreckage was spread over approximately a 0. 5-mile path. The first item located in the wreckage path was the lower half-span of the rudder control...

    Civil registration, N57LR, cancelled.
    FAA records indicate the airframe was destroyed.
