    Constructed as a 4-AT-E.

    To Pitcairn Aviation Passenger Division, Eastern Air Transport with new c/r NC8407.

    To Eastern Airlines keeping c/r NC8407.

    1930

    Leased to Cubana Airlines.
    Inaugurated air service between Havana and Santiago de Cuba.

    To Government of the Dominican Republic.

    1949

    Returned to the United States for barnstorming use.

    1950

    Ferry flight.
    Moved from Miami, FL, to Pheonix, AZ.

    While in Pheonix it was refitted with more powerful engines for use as a crop duster. With two 450 HP engines and one 550 HP engine, it became the most powerful Model 4-AT ever flown.

    Ferry flight.
    Moved to Idaho.

    In Idaho it was fitted with two 275 gallon tanks and bomb doors for use as a borate bomber in aerial fire fighting.

    15 June 1956

    Certificate of airworthiness for N8407 (4-AT-E, 69) issued.

    1958

    Further modifications for use by smoke jumpers.

    1964

    To unknown owner.
    Operated from Lawrence, Kansas, doing barnstorming tours. During this period it had a variety of roles, including serving as the primary setting for the Jerry Lewis comedy, The Family Jewels.

    1973

    Still in use for air show rides including the EAA Fly-In at Burlington, Wisconsin.

    1973

    Damaged.
    While at the EAA Fly-In, a severe thunderstorm ripped the plane from its tie-downs, lifted it 50 feet into the air and smashed it to the ground on its back.

    To Experimental Aircraft Association Aviation Foundation.
    The EAA purchased the wreckage.

    From 1973 to 1985

    Restored.
    Markings Applied: NC8407

    Notes: Aerial photo taken of Ford Tri Motor NC8407 after it was heavily damaged in a wind storm at the EAA Fly In in Burlington, Wisconsin. It was subsequently repaired by Kal-Aero and is now operated by the EAA.
