    Constructed as a C-47B-10-DK by Douglas at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA.

    New construction number, 26224, assigned to the airframe.

    Circa 1943

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Army Air Force with s/n 43-48963.

    October 1944

    Taken on Strength/Charge with the United States Navy with BuNo 50757 as a R4D-6.

    Redesignated as R4D-5S.

    Redesignated as SC-47J.

    Transferred to VX-1, NAS Boca Chica, Key West, FL.

    3 February 1955

    Charles Griswold reports: As an AT3, flew on a MAD training flight while aircraft was attached to VX-1 NAS Boca Chica, Key West, FL. Last flight 24 Oct 1955. Per my Flight Log Book.

    1960

    Transferred to Reserve ASW Training Center (East), NAS Willow Grove, PA.
    Used to train aircrew on ASW systems found on the Grumman S-2 Tracker and Lockheed P-2V Neptune aircraft.

    From 1961 to 1963

    John Avram comments (3 August 2015): I was an ASW Instructor in the Navy, Stationed at NAS Willow Grove PA. I flew 2 Training Flight in this Aircraft in 1961. One on 04/09/1961 the secound on 06/13/1961. I also few 3 Training Flights in this Aircraft in 1962.The frist on 01/13/1962, the second on 01/14/1962, the third on 02/18/1962 My last flight in this Aircraft on in May of 1963.
