The cargo flight departed San Juan-Luis Munoz Marin International Airport (SJU/TJSJ), Puerto Rico and was destined for Saint Kitts-Golden Rock Airport (SKB/TKPK), St. Kitts and Nevis. The accident occurred at San Juan (Puerto Rico) while on approach. Narrative: A no. 2 engine failure forced the crew to return to runway 10 and was on a right downwind leg when the propeller was stopped. The DC-3 descended, turned to base leg at a low altitude and crashed into a lagoon in a right vertical bank...

    There was one fatality and was one serious injury. The accident occurred at the Puerto Rico International Airport (SJU) ISLA VERDE while climbing. The airframe was destroyed. Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft climb performance began to deteriorate the right engine started to overheat. Subsequently, the right engine was feathered the crew attempted to return to the airport...
