He ended having to bale out of the airplane during the Thompson. He suffered a broken leg and a destroyed airplane. Photo Date: In 1938 Credit: Timothy Weinschenker Date Uploaded: 6 October 2019 Airframe: Folkerts SK-4, c/r N288Y Notes: Folkerts SK-4 at Cleveland in 1939, just prior to the crash where inexperienced race pilot Delbert Bush died. This ia actually cleveland 1938 before the allerons floodered. It also has the small tail in this picture. That tail is all that survived of the airplane and now hangs at Pioneer airport with the EAA. By 1939 the allerons had counter ballances added and the canopy was modified to a slide type.
