Martin via Timothy Weinschenker Date Uploaded: 6 October 2019 Airframe: North American A-36A Apache, s/n 42-83769 USAAF, c/n 97-15987, c/r N4E {1} Notes: Woody Edmondson flew this A-36 Mustang in the 1947 Thompson Trophy race. It would be a disaster for Woody as the engine failed and Woody was forced to make an emergency landing in which he was seriously injured. Of note is the open clamshell doors of the landing gear with the engine running. This was a unique characteristic of the A-36.
