Notes: Bali-based Zamrud Aviation had only two DC-3s left in service by 1980. When formed by American Dave Fowler in 1968,
Zamrud purchased 13 Lake Central Airways DC-3s from USA. PK-ZDG was a later acquisition from the Philippines.

Airframe: Consolidated-Canadian Vickers PBV-1A Catalina, s/n 11060 RCAF, c/n CV-369, c/r VH-EXG
Notes: Geoterrex operated their magnificent Catalina VH-EXG on mineral survey contracts until it was retired at Essendon in 1987.
Built in 1944 by Boeing Canada as a PBV-1A Canso A and used by RCAF until 1961 when sold by Canadian disposals,
it was later modified with more powerful Wright R-2800s and redesigned tail as a Steward Davis Super Catalina.
Seen at Perth in June 1985 when it was parked for two months between survey jobs.

Notes: Looking abandoned at Manila, Douglas DC-6B N62129 was formerly PI-C949, king of the fleet with Filipinas Orient Airways.
Faded paintwork by the rear passenger door proudly claimed Fully Pressurised and Radar Equipped.
Despite appearances, it flew out on delivery to a US fire tanker company on 12 November 1975, only two months later

It was imported from USA in February 1988 by warbird enthusiast Judy Pay at Tyabb Vic

Notes: Meanwhile the first warbird Stearman to fly in Australia was Jeff Trappetts VH-AGR in 1981, ex N5047V.
Seen at Mangalore April 1984, this was a wartime US Navy N2S-3 model which went on to a long US agricultural career

Airframe: Taylorcraft-Piper L-4A Grasshopper, s/n 42-36509 USAAF, c/n 8633, c/r VH-LFJ
Notes: Piper J-3C Cub VH-LFJ at Richmond in October 1988 is a good example of the military AOP/spotter category of warbirds,
referred to as liaison in the US. This was built for the USAAF as an L-4 Grasshopper, later civilianised as a J3C-65 Cub.
It was among a number of civil Cubs imported from Philippines by a Queensland dealer during the 1980s
