Notes: Photographed at London Luton Airport in 1966 - a civilianized Douglas Invader WW-II bomber fitted with tail-mounted magnetometer for survey work. This aircraft came from a batch that never saw military service and were sold off to conversion companies who turned most into VIP and personal transports. With two 2000 hp engines to play with and a top speed of 355 mph

Airframe: Grumman G-159 Gulfstream, c/n 54, c/r N164PA
Notes: In 1966, at London Gatwick, it was very unusual to see a visiting private Canadian aircraft so this Grumman Gulfstream I was of particular interest. It was owned by the Massey-Ferguson tractor company and amazingly is still active in 2011 as N164PA in GA/USA.

Airframe: de Havilland Canada DHC-6-1 Twin Otter, c/n 009, c/r N806RT
Notes: The 9th production De Havilland Twin Otter at London Gatwick airport - on a demo tour in TAA livery. The sale to Australia fell through, so it went to Tahiti instead. Amazingly it was last reported still current in Fiji in 2009

Notes: One of Transair Swedens Douglas DC-7Bs arriving at London Gatwick on a highschool charter under a government sponsered system that financed each student one trip abroad to try out their second language skills. This aircraft was originally built for US based Eastern Airlines in 1957 and was scrapped in Sweden in 1969

Notes: Seen here arriving at Zurich, Switzerland on a Saturn Airways flight from the US is this Douglas DC-7C which was one of the first to have the exits outlined in compliance with new FAA requirements. Originally built for Mexicana in 1957, it later operated in Spain before being converted to a bar in the 1980s

Notes: Photographed at Gatwick in 1966 - One of Finnairs Convair 440s on a charter to London/Gatwick. Delivered in 1957 it was sold in Norway in 1972 then went to the USA, then Peru and finally crashed in the Andes mountains in 1993 while en route to Bolivia
